Health and Physical Education Program at Applecross Primary
At Applecross Primary School, our Health and Physical Education (HPE) program is integral in fostering students' physical development, resilience, and lifelong enthusiasm for active, healthy living. Our inclusive approach ensures all students, regardless of their abilities, engage positively through fun, game-based activities aligned with our core values of Integrity, Diversity, Achievement, and Growth.
For our younger learners, the KIDDO program helps develop essential fundamental movement skills, including throwing, catching, striking, and kicking. These engaging activities enhance motor development, teamwork, and mutual respect. As students’ progress, they build upon these foundational skills through gameplay, mastering advanced strategies, decision-making, and spatial awareness, which enhance their growth as confident individuals and effective team members.
Beyond physical skills, our HPE curriculum supports students' social-emotional growth, equipping them with the knowledge and understanding to manage relationships respectfully and positively. Students are empowered to make informed decisions, strengthen their resilience, manage risks effectively, and build meaningful connections.
Students at Applecross Primary participate in diverse activities, including:
- Health Education
- Protective Behaviours
- Growth and Development
- Morning Fitness Sessions
- In-Term Swimming Lessons
- Organised Sports Sessions
- School-based and Interschool Sports Competitions
Together, these comprehensive initiatives support our students in developing physical wellbeing, essential social skills, and healthy lifestyle choices, preparing them to lead active, balanced, and confident lives.
